Little Leopards & Dragons Training - 2009/2010

END OF YEAR PARTY 2009/ COMMENCEMENT TRAINING PARTY 2010

Dear Awesome AAMA Parents/Guardians/Carers,

Bring on Summer! Hasn’t the weather decided to become assertive and warm! We are so proud of our Little Leopards and Dragons who have battled the warmth and strengthened their character by continuing their 2 or 3 classes a week – keep it up! 

We are now into the home stretch of the Spring Module for 2009 “Understand Our Decisions” and lessons have been packed full of fun and edu-tainment! So far we have covered:

- Decisions involved in strategy/tactics and technical involvement with our Gladiator Game “King of the Mat”;
- Decisions involving our health and strength: both through nutrition, getting sleep and healthy thinking;
- Excellent development in our Kata (forms/patterns) and also awareness in 360 degree activities like our “Bull Ring”;
- Lots of stranger danger/personal safety practice: getting out of wrist holds, neck holds, strangers approaching, anti-abduction procedures;
- Personal fitness development with jogging laps;
- Developing interpersonal skills and co-operation through group challenges such as the “Group Sit up Challenge”;
- And more! We find there are lots of little bits that mean a lot to each child yet seem insignificant to adults! (e.g. High fiving friends after they had their turn on the punching bags!)

We are now into our 8th week Revising work covered over the module!

On Saturday 28th November, Tuesday 1st December and Thursday 3rd December we will be formally testing children on work covered over the module.
Please note that the children have constantly been monitored with their behaviour, technical development, co-operative and general skill building and fitness development over the Module. The participation and interaction through the module act as most of the ‘grading process’ (also including their attendance numbers). The Testing days act to encourage ownership and accountability in children; obviously the expectations of performance differ depending on the age and grade of each child.

We will celebrate the children’s (and parents’) commitment to karate training with our Graduation/End of Year Party on Saturday 5th December 10:00 – 11:15am(Please bring a plate of food for the table).

We thank all our parent/guardian body for your on-going support of our very important program for children in developing their self-esteem/confidence, physical fitness, social awareness and all intelligences (intellectual, personal, social).

As we near the end of the Module we would like to outline the remainder of training for Little Leopards and The Dragons for the end of 2009 and the commencement of 2010.
