Dear AAMA Parents and Guardians, We are excited to let you know about our “Children’s Games Day with Friends” – hour long lessons held on both Tuesday, 11 December and Thursday, 13 December, 2007 from 5:00 - 6:00pm both days. This event will be a fantastic way for your child/ren to introduce the art and sport of Karate they enjoy to all their friends. Karate has such a wide range of benefits for all who practice it, especially children. We would like this event to give families the opportunity to pass the benefits your child/ren receive from classes, plus more, onto your children’s friends and your family friends. We have started distributing forms to the Children’s classes (Little Leopards & The Dragons). These forms are to let us know which children and their friends are attending so we can be best prepared for the classes to be exceptionally fun, inspiring, motivating, interactive and educational for the children attending. The emergency contact details and information of the friends attending is important, so please take the time to fill this information in. We look forward to receiving your forms back at your earliest convenience. Please do not hesitate if you have any questions regarding this event and it would be our pleasure if you would like us to call any parents regarding this event with details. Thanking you, Sempai Bryony |

Sensei Fujimoto is a well recognised figure in International Karate as: Australian Academy of Martial Arts Adult and Samurai members are very lucky to have the pleasure of Sensei FUJIMOTO's instruction in November 2007 from the 16th to 21st. Please refer to the training schedule over this period of time for your class - So you do not miss your chance to train under Sensei FUJIMOTO.

The Camp will have many benefits for all grades. It will be directed at preparation for FUJIMOTO Sensei’s visit, will also assist in preparing tournament players for the forthcoming Championships and generally all members for forthcoming grading examinations. Thus skill development and improvement will be maximized giving each student every opportunity in their pursuit of success. The Camp should not be missed by any serious Karate player. Between training sessions, you are free to relax and rest; enjoy the sun and surf; socialize with other Club members; use the other recreation and sporting facilities at the Camp site (Prior Permission may be required from Shihan) or visit other places of interest on the North Coast. CHILDREN:- Children will share the camp, meals etc. with adult members; however, they will follow an amended training schedule. Between training sessions, children will be supervised at all times. To receive discounts of your Camp prices, please read the Forms distributed in classes for more information!! See you all there! |
Hi Adult & Samurai Members, For novices, the purpose of this event is to give you the opportunity to commence your experience with Karate as a sport in an encouraging and supportive environment. The day will consist of matches organised with compatible Academy mates. This is not a tournament but rather matches where members will have participation with certificates, fun and learning as the prizes! For experienced competitors, matches will also be arranged with other members of similar experience and abilities. Samurai are invited and encouraged to attend this event also! I encourage all eligible members to participate in this event and take advantage of the opportunities. Please contact myself, Sempai Bryony or Sempai Maxine if you need further information. Best wishes, Shihan

Dear Parents, The Karate Kid Championship is an exciting event for our children in the Little Leopards, Dragons & Samurai Classes! Beside the fun aspect, the event exposes them to other facets of Karate, which assists in their ‘Character’ development. Their performance is also taken into consideration for their next Grading Assessments. Details are as follows:
Events and the appropriate grades of entry are as per Entry Form distributed in classes. We have included the following paragraph for information of parents who are not familiar with Australian Academy of Martial Arts Tournaments: Usually, sport is contested by athletes from many different organisations or clubs with the participating clubs and athletes sole objective of ‘being the best at any cost’ and with first place taking precedence over all else. This sole objective can unwisely create feelings of tremendous pressure in our children such as anxiety, personal inadequacies and fear of losing, just to name a few. This event will involve maximum participation from those attending with matches run in an encouraging, positive and healthy atmosphere. We look forward to receiving entry forms from our Little Leopards, Dragons & Samurai by Thursday 1 November 2007! |
Dear AAMA Adult and Samurai Members, Thursday 27/9/07 6:30pm - 8:00pm |

Hi AAMA Adult Members,
I apologise for any inconvenience caused to members who train in the morning class due to the short notice given. |
We wish to advise that the summer uniform option for children: AAMA t-shirt, Karate pants and belt will cease as from the week ending Sunday 13 May 2005. Full uniform (Karate pants, Karate jacket and belt) will be required for children as the dress of the day as from Monday 14 May 2007. Children are encouraged to continue wearing their AAMA T-shirts outside of the Academy as casual wear. We request your assistance in regards to the change back to the full Karate Gi (uniform). Best wishes, Graham Keleher |
Dear AAMA Members and Parents, We would like to thank all the participants of our 2007 Autumn AAMA Training and Recreational Camp! We congratulate all members who attended from Shunpukan (Wishart Dojo) as well as those members that came from external schools to which Shihan is a Technical Advisor. We congratulate the new members who came along and enjoyed the experience with such enthusiasm and vigour. We have received only positive and raving feedback from participants about the in-depth studies of our personal Self Defence and Safety, Will in what we do and our true potential in succeeding in all we truly put our minds to. Shihan, with such a wealth of experience (as a police officer, a self defence instructor to the police, decades of competing and coaching in both State, National and International scenes, a member of the World Karate Federation Technical Committe, over 35 years experience in instructing and coaching karate/self defence to students such as ourselves, and so on and so on!) passed on an insurmountable amount of knowledge to participants in just one weekend over 6 training sessions starting the afternoon of Friday 20 April continuing at 6am both mornings as well as non stop conversations with students during breaks and at night! Shihan has run over 40 camps spanning 35 years - rain, hail or shine; this camp was once again topping international standards in instruction and interaction for all levels: from senior Children, beginner Adults up to Adult Black Belts - only through years of experience, understanding and devotion from the head instructor can such a huge range of students be constantly involved and satisfied! How can you top a camp that had such cathartic Content and Instruction set on the beach side interacting with other enthusiastic members!? Well, I'm sure the next camp: our 2007 Spring AAMA Training and Recreational Camp, will sure stand to the challenge! Keep your ears open and keep your diaries ready to keep time aside so you can participate! Congratulations and thank you to the supporting instruction from Sensei Perry Hamilton, Sensei Bob Scott and Sempai Murry Burrows - we thank you also for encouraging your students to attend. Our 2nd Module commences this Monday 30th April, 2007: We encourage and look forward to your enthusiasm and progression in this next module for both Adults and Samurai beginning! Up-coming Holidays: Please also note for your diaries the up-coming public holiday 7 May, 2007 (Labour Day) - as per usual, there is no training on this day. We also thank and wish all mothers a relaxing enjoyable day this month with Mother's Day (13/5/07). Best wishes, Sempai Bryony Keleher |

Hi AAMA Parents & Guardians, |
Hi Members and Parents,
This late notice could not be avoided and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience we may have caused. |

Hi Members and Parents, Well it's come and it's gone - 2006 is drawing to a hurried close. With doors closing and doors opening there is always excitement and anticipation and sometimes concern about the future. To relieve some of this concern and to assist our Academy Community in planning for the remainder of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 we are pleased to announce our Class and Activity Schedule for this immediate period of time.
Kagami Baraki is literally translated as the “unveiling of the round mirror” or “mirror opening”; it is a time when students from all Dojo gather for united training, reflect on the year that has past and begin to set goals for the New Year. In our International Organisation training is followed by a Social Event to celebrate the return to training, renewing acquaintances , meet new friends and generally relax. The Little Leopards and The Dragons will train and celebrate together and the Samurai and Adults together. The Times are as per the class schedule. Each member is requested to bring a plate to be shared at the table (Christmas fruit, sandwiches, savouries, etc.) Drinks will be provided free of charge by the Club. Each member is encouraged to attend and be part of the Spirit of our Kagami Baraki. 2006 - In looking back over 2006, I am very pleased with the progress we have made - this year's addition of a 3rd classification in our Children's classes has allowed our instructors to expertly address the different maturation levels that exist in children between 4 years and 17 years. While we have continued to follow our well known culture of Character Building and Personal Development, our students have also continued to excel in the Sport of Karate with 2 National Champions and numerous State Champions. The extensive renovations to our dojo (Shunpukan) is now nearing completion and in 2007 we could possibly boast that we have the best in the nation. 2007 - There is certainly progress and excitement built into the upcoming year at our Academy. The calendar of events will reflect this when announced at our Kagami Baraki Training/ Party and also via our first email for 2007. On the mat of the dojo where most of our members' interests lie, we will continue with class content and Instruction Level of International Standard. Finally, I would like to wish all members and parents a very Happy Christmas and a most prosperous 2007. I look forward to seeing you next year at the Kagami Baraki Training & Parties.
Best wishes, Graham Keleher
