Self Defence and Karate Classes – Australian Academy of Martial Arts

“promote physical development in areas such as coordination, agility, strength, flexibility, and endurance…”

The Australian Academy of Martial Arts (AAMA) is the leading karate training school operating in Brisbane, South East Queensland, teaching both traditional (Shito Ryu) and modern sports (non-contact) Karate-Do.

The adults and children’s karate programmes have been developed over more than forty years to include ethics and discipline of martial arts, self defence techniques, and all the specific skills that are necessary to follow or participate in the sport of Karate-Do.

For children, karate usually has a ‘levelling effect’ on a child’s nature. An aggressive child will become more tolerant, yet still retain their great spirit, whereas a very subdued child will become more self-protective and outgoing. More importantly, each child develops an understanding of children with opposite natures to themselves, and thus can handle them appropriately with confidence.

Karate will promote physical development in areas such as coordination, agility, strength, flexibility, and endurance. The Australian Academy of Martial Arts has a philosophy of promoting preventative self defence, which is underpinned by our training methods.

Our training center (Dojo) at Klumpp Road, Upper Mt Gravatt operates predominantly with afternoon classes for children and early evening classes for adults. There are also some morning classes conducted at the Dojo, including Saturday morning training for all grades.
